Pakistan is a principal gateway to the Central Asian republics. Further afield, it has established strong and long-standing links with the Middle East and South Asia.

Its 140 million consumer market is not just large but is also growing in purchasing power, with a burgeoning middle-class acquiring sophisticated consumption habits.

Investors find abundant land and natural resources. Extensive arable acreage is given over to crop production, including wheat, cotton, rice, fruit and vegetables. Mineral reserves include coal, oil, natural gas, copper, iron ore and gypsum.

Pakistan has a large, English-speaking workforce, out of which there is a core of managers and technical workers. Labour rates are very cost effective.

It also enjoys a well-established infrastructure, including comprehensive road, rail and sea links and good quality telecommunications and IT services, and a strong legal system, with modern commercial and company laws.
